AI is the engine of the next generation of PCs

Intel, AMD and Lenovo are showcasing computers that will be available to end consumers in the coming months and that focus their new tools on AI.

Las Vegas, Nevada – At CES 2025, companies showcased the future of personal and business computing. Intel, AMD and Lenovo highlighted the convergence of artificial intelligence (AI) and next-generation hardware design as the core of the transformation of the PC market.

Alvaro Muñoz, consumer manager at Lenovo, said that one of the focuses of AI in the development of personal computers is to personalize the experience that some assistants already have at work. Among the computers that the company showed were solutions that respond only to the voice of the main user, which allows them to send instructions as they usually do with voice assistants, both in terms of productivity and security.

Another of the computers that caught the attention of those who attended the brand's booth at the Venetian Convention Center was a laptop that unfolds its main screen according to the user's needs. The Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 allows its OLED screen to transform from 14 inches to 16.7 inches with the push of a button. And part of this preference can be identified in its users with gestures that it processes through AI.

But for these types of solutions, manufacturing companies require processors and solutions that help support these ideas.

AMD today introduced its new line of Ryzen AI Max and Ryzen AI 300 Series processors, built on the "Zen 5" architecture. These solutions are designed to bring AI capabilities to ultra-thin laptops, business workstations and everyday devices.

A key point that was also announced was the strategic alliance with manufacturers such as Dell, HP and Lenovo, which guarantees the adoption of these technologies in a wide range of devices. The company chaired by Lisa Su seeks to enable users with tools that transform collaboration and productivity in work and creativity environments, positioning itself as a strategic partner in the transition towards an era of "Copilot+" devices with advanced AI capabilities.

For its part, Intel underlined its focus on creating personalized experiences through AI, with a special focus on gaming and productivity. The company announced improvements in graphics performance and workflow optimization through AI integrated into its new platforms. Its commitment to redefining the user experience is in line with the trend of adaptive interfaces, which are anticipated to be the standard in future devices.

Additionally, Intel strengthened its commitment to developers and software partners, highlighting the importance of robust ecosystems to boost AI capabilities. Its vision focuses on enabling devices that can anticipate user needs, from more immersive video games to smarter productivity assistants.

Both companies agree that AI will be the differentiating factor for users, businesses and developers. While AMD is betting on raw performance and collaboration with large OEM partners, Intel is focusing on customization and gaming as strategic axes. The competition between these giants promises accelerated progress in innovation and accessibility, positioning AI as the standard in the next generation of computers.

The adoption of these technologies in everyday life and business is just beginning, but CES 2025 has made it clear that the future is already here, led by a symbiosis of hardware, software and AI capabilities.
