Lenovo unveils new Aston Martin-designed workstations

The power of these new devices will be focused on performing virtual, augmented or mixed reality tasks, as well as machine learning, design or rendering and data science.

Lenovo has unveiled its most powerful workstations to date. These are the ThinkStation PX, P7 and P5 families, which feature cutting-edge Intel and Nvidia technology, as well as exterior design created by luxury car brand Aston Martin.

During its launch event, the company said that this new generation of devices will be optimized for tasks related to virtual, augmented or mixed reality, as well as machine learning, data science and artificial intelligence capabilities, among others.

Regarding the design, the company highlighted that Aston Martin was inspired by its DBS car to create the 3D grille of the chassis of these stations, applying certain ideas from the automotive segment to improve the cooling system of the equipment, in addition to allowing an unobstructed air flow for better operation.

Lenovo ThinkStation PX

This is the premium workstation announced by the company and one of its main features is that it reaches “extreme levels of power and performance,” the company says, as well as flexibility for desktop and data center environments.

In technical terms, it is powered by the latest fourth-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, which offer up to 120 CPU cores and boast an average performance gain of 53% over the previous generation.

It also features four dual-slot NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada Generation GPUs, so users can manage and run the most complex workflows, launching this summer.

Entry-level, but prominent, workstations

Although the PX model had the most prominence at Lenovo's event, the company presented a couple of other devices that, while not as feature-rich, are still relevant entry-level models for multi-process tasks.

One of them was the ThinkStation P7, ideal for content creators, architects, designers, engineers or data scientists who need graphics visualization or real-time rendering, as well as Artificial Intelligence functions.

On the other hand, the ThinkStation P5 was described by Lenovo as a “workhorse” that is not designed for a specific work vertical, although the brand did highlight that it excels in solid modeling and computation-intensive tasks, reality capture and geospatial visualization, as well as visual effects.

Regarding the entire family of workstations, the company mentioned that they are designed to operate in professional and demanding IT work environments, in addition to providing essential business-grade security features.

These three new workstations will be available starting in May of this year, Lenovo announced.
