Robots and drones, DHLs bets for the future

The wave of robotics and constant technological innovation give a new boost to the logistics industry.

CHICAGO - Collaborative robots are becoming increasingly popular in the logistics industry, and German company DHL is using them as a solution to streamline its workforce and boost productivity in its warehouses.

The parcel company says that the use of robots will be essential to operate in the coming years within this new technological wave. Currently, 80% of its warehouses are still operated manually, which represents a great potential for automation.

These are the main technologies that DHL is incorporating into its processes:

 

1. Robots

 

Ken Allen, a member of the board of directors, says that the introduction of robots has increased employee productivity by 200% and that employee feedback has been positive.

 

From cleaning robots to loading assistants, the company has been able to incorporate these advances to help processes in a faster and more efficient way.
