Trips for single men, those looking for vintage pieces and those that will not be shared on social media are some of the trips included in a list by the firm Booking.com
The announcement of this booking platform showed that those revenge trips that people wanted to take after the lockdown imposed by Covid are a thing of the past.
Also, the choice of destinations based on what some people recommended on social media is a thing of the past.
All of this, according to a survey in which Mexicans revealed their travel goals for 2025.
These are the trends revealed:
1. Nocturnism. Mexican travelers in 2025 will focus on making connections with the universe. Leaving aside daylight crowds for the magic of midnight, 81% of Mexicans are considering dark sky destinations; 87%, meteor shower experiences; 73%, star guides; 74% will consider once-in-a-lifetime cosmic events; and 73% will consider constellation tracking.
2. Towards immortality. For Mexicans, vacations will not just be a time to relax. Driven by the desire to cultivate a better lifestyle, 79% of Mexican travelers are interested in longevity retreats. 83% will look for wellness activities that they can incorporate into their daily lives; 71% said they were interested in body vibration experiences, and 65% in cryotherapy
3. AI-powered itineraries. AI-powered tools are set to play a key role in shaping these trips. 86% of Mexican travelers will use technology to find authentic experiences.
Travelers will also apply a more responsible approach to how they use technology: 31% of Mexican travelers will not tag places on social media when visiting a lesser-known destination to keep it secret and avoid attracting crowds.
4. Multigenerational mega-trips. In this prediction, Mexican parents will opt to enjoy unforgettable experiences, leaving the idea of saving for their children's inheritance in the background.
Half of travellers said they would rather spend money on an unforgettable trip in 2025 than leave an inheritance to their loved ones.
5. Zen Men’s Travel. “Men-only” holidays based on wellbeing and personal development will come to the fore. With the cultural shift bringing with it advances in conversations about men’s mental health, 65% of people surveyed confirmed they would encourage one of the men in their life to take a “men-only” trip.
6. Ageless adventures. Quiet retirements are a thing of the past, and next year a new generation of baby boomers will defy their years and conventional expectations in favour of thrill-seeking, says Booking.com.
22% of this generation in Mexico is interested in vacations that involve adventure (compared to 10% in 2024).
40% are interested in horse riding and 62% in letting go of their inhibitions at a wine party. With a slightly more adventurous spirit, 36% would take to the water and canoe and 31% would put on hiking boots to trek one of the highest mountain ranges.
7. Vintage travel. Vacation wardrobes will be revamped by 2025 as stylish travelers become “vintage travelers” by visiting secondhand stores while on vacation to select a more sustainable suitcase. 76% of Mexican travelers said they would be interested in purchasing their vacation wardrobe during their trip rather than before.
8. Airports as travel inspiration. Gone are the days of arriving just in time to avoid crowded waiting rooms after passing through security. Travelers are rethinking their 2025 vacations to embrace a new era of airport entertainment.
46% have expressed interest in visiting a location because of its airport, and 73% are curious about airports with more unique experiences or facilities.
