With this tool you can make requests in text, as well as create images on Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.
Meta is finally making one of the most anticipated changes to its social media. The company has started integrating its ChatGPT-like digital assistant into Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger.
This is the biggest push yet for generative AI features by the company and the assistant has the ability to answer questions, create animations and images, explained Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta in a video, in which he announced that the latest version of its Meta language model, Call 3 , is also now available.
“We believe Meta AI is now the smartest AI assistant that can be used freely,” the executive said, as the tool is integrated into the search box of WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and Messenger.
By accessing it, users can ask questions or requests, which the chatbot answers in natural language, in addition to being able to save conversations to use the information as context for future reference.
The company's chatbot will also be available on the meta.ai site, where users can use it for a variety of tasks, from solving math problems to writing stylish emails to generating images.
A relevant element of this new system is that it integrates real-time search results, based on information taken from other platforms, such as the Bing and Google browsers.
For Zuckerberg, this moment represents an opportunity to establish Meta AI as another option in the already competitive world of generative AI, where ChatGPT and Google dominate.
From the executive's perspective, Meta's technology has the ability to evolve quickly and adapt to new trends to stay in a race that began some time ago. That is why they will continue to invest in these models.
“I don’t think a lot of people today really think of Meta AI when they think of mainstream AI assistants that people use,” he admitted in the video. “But I think this is the point where we’re really going to start introducing it to a lot of people and I expect it to be a pretty significant product.”
The company stressed that, for now, the assistant will only be available in English in countries such as the United States, Australia, Canada, Ghana, Jamaica, Malawi, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The scope is expected to expand in the coming months to make this AI global and cover the more than 3 billion users that the company registers in its different applications.
