From curved screens to flagship refreshes, these brands are betting on products aimed at a recovering market.
Las Vegas, Nevada. During CES 2025 , LG, Samsung and Dell presented their new monitors focused on the gaming public at a time that is seen as positive for this industry. According to IDC's World Quarterly Gaming Tracker , shipments of these devices reached 6.5 million units in the second quarter of 2024, and grew 35% year-on-year.
According to Jay Chou, research manager for IDC's Worldwide Client Devices Trackers , the 60.5 million units are the highest number recorded since the research firm began tracking the market in 2016.
The company introduced its UltraGear GX9 monitor series, whose main features are curved screens with WOLED technology, which offer high brightness, deep blacks, vibrant colors and an optimized curvature to immerse users in the action of their favorite titles.
In this regard, the firm presented the LG Ultra Gear OLED Flexible monitor (model 45GX990A), which is the world's first flexible OLED monitor with 5K2K resolution. Its area is 45 inches and can go from completely flat to a 900R curvature in seconds, offering more control over the gaming experience. Its Dual-Mode function allows you to switch between resolution and refresh rate settings, as well as customize the size and aspect ratio of the image.
Another relevant model of the new GX9 line is the LG Ultra Gear OLED monitor (model 45GX950A) that has a curved screen (800R), 21:9 format and 5K2K resolution, this 45-inch screen offers sharp images, colors and contrast characteristic of LG OLED products.
Finally, the Ultra Gear 39GX90SA monitor is designed to offer both gaming and content streaming experiences, since through webOS it works as a home entertainment center, allowing you to access all your streaming services without the need for a PC or set-top box.
The firm presented the long-awaited 27-inch Alienware. This monitor features 4K OLED technology and a density of 166 pixels per inch to provide the user with better image quality.
As this is a gaming device, the graphics refresh rate is important, with 240 Hertz, which the brand promises will result in “smooth motion and responsive gameplay.”
The Alienware 27 monitor was a winner of the CES 2025 Innovation Award.
